Frequently Asked Questions
A collection of common questions that may arise when planning to have photographs taken professionally.
How much is a session?
Kati Photography charges £85 for portrait sessions and £100 for newborns due to the specific skills set involved. This fee is to be paid on booking to secure your date and time. The session fee covers the talent of the photographer and the time to prepare your photographs for viewing. It does not include any products or prints. After your photo shoot, you will be able to choose from a variety of made to order products, prices starting from £129. Please find images and prices of products available to you.
Where do you live and how far do you travel?
I live in West Toronto and am happy to travel within the GTA. The sitting fee includes travel within 25 miles of my home. If you live further afield, an additional charge of £0.60 per mile will be added.
How does the process work?
You will have an initial consultation what style or look you would like to achieve, about your preferences and about your plans what to do with the images. After the photo shoot, I will need about 2 weeks to edit your images. Once they are finished, I will meet with you for a viewing and ordering session. You will be able to choose from a variety of finished products from an a la carte menu or create your own collection. Don’t worry if you are undecided, I will walk you through the entire process and help you choose the right product for your home. Depending on the product of your choice, it will then take about 2 to 3 weeks till your wall art arrives or your products are ready for collection.
Do you edit all the photographs?
I will make a selection of the very best images from your session, which will then be edited by me, each one individually. I will apply basic post-processing and adjust settings such as exposure, brightness, contrast etc. Please note that basic post-processing does not include alterations to body shape, size or skin imperfections. Any advanced retouching, digital manipulation and artistic finishing is available to you as an optional extra.
How many images will I get to view?
On average, you will get a selection of 20 – 30 fully edited images from which you can choose your favourites.
Can some of our images be delivered in black&white and colour?
Images created in black and white are only available in black and white as it involves a different editing process. Likewise, images in colour will only be delivered in colour. I usually produce a variety of each, but I am more than happy to accommodate your preferences. We will talk about this in the initial consultation.
Can I receive the raw, unedited photographs?
The raw, unedited files are not available for viewing or purchase. The finished product is an edited jpeg image, which is part of my artistic interpretation and the entire photography experience.
Why are your digital image collections priced higher than some products?
Many digital images are sitting on hard drives on computers and on phones and only get looked at occasionally. My aim is to create long lasting memories by encouraging you to get your images printed, so that you can enjoy them every day: on your walls, on your mantelpiece, windowsill or wherever you prefer to place them. You will love waking up to those sweet faces every morning in your bedroom and you will enjoy seeing your family portraits while you are all having dinner together. I appreciate that having your photographs taken professionally is an investment that you won't make on a regular basis, so you ought to enjoy these treasures as often and as much as possible! A list of prices is available here.
What happens if we are late for a session?
The session starts at the arranged time. If you are more than 15 minutes late, I might have to cut your session short in order not to be late for the next session after your appointment. Therefore, you are strongly encouraged to plan accordingly for traffic etc.
What happens if we cannot make our appointment?
You can rearrange the session at no extra cost up to one week in advance. However, a cancellation of 6 days or less in advance may incur an additional fee.
Do you have insurance?
Of course, I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
What is an online gallery?
After you have chosen your favourite images and products, your photographs may be placed (upon request) in a password protected online gallery on my website, so that your family and friends can view and purchase images too.
