We continuously strive to improve our skills, to strengthen our abilities and to widen our experience. In order to do this, we attend workshops and seminars, receive mentoring on a regular basis and watch online tutorials all the time... yes, all the time. I don't think the big telly hubby bought actually pays off as it is always sitting alone in the living room. Anyway, I must not distract :)
As part of our development, we have recently attended a residential workshop, a fabulous week of photography training in Glansevin. 4 nights away : five outstanding trainer photographers, four wonderful models, one awesome cook, twenty one amazing photographers eager to learn even more, and us, my husband and me that is :-) ... all crammed into one house for one week in the middle of nowhere in Wales ... workshops from early till late, opportunities to practice the newly acquired skills there and then, with models on a one to one basis... lots of photography related discussions and exchanges, and 'some' drinking till dawn.
The week is organised by Paul RG Haley at http://www.prgh.co.uk/; he is an amazing photographer and a very generous person. It was the second time we took part in this training extravaganza and we have learnt so so much!!! What's so exceptional about Paul's training and the 4 nights away: the trainer, instructors, tutors, mentors or whatever they may like to be called (I just call them awesome!) are award winning photographers with a bag full of experience. They are some of the countries best photographers and they teach what they have been doing for many a year. Above all, they are the most generous people I have ever met! Being at a stage of running a very young business, I never felt inferior or inexperienced in their presence. You (or me in this case) can achieve so much more when other people believe in you! And of course, you can only achieve it if you believe in yourself too!
So, thank you Paul Haley, Richie Crossley, Julie Oswin, Kevin Pengelly and Sean McCormack for sharing all this knowledge and experience , for answering hundreds of questions, even when they were repetitive, for your enormous generosity and warmth. And my thanks also go to all you lovely lot making this experience even more worthwhile by being there, contributing your remarkable knowledge and experience too and, for sharing your and my drinks :) The week in Glansevin gave me so many new ideas and such a good confidence boost (which I desperately needed)! I am bursting with energy and I want to go out and shoot shoot shoot! Although I wouldn't mind doing some drinking in between :)
Here is a little selection of images taken during workshops as well as on individual sessions with models.
